Rasheed Akbar Niwani’s home was the target of a suicide bombing Monday; 15 were killed and at least 50 wounded.
Pakistani lawmaker Rasheed Akbar Niwani was attacked at home by a suicide bomber Monday.

Officials say that at least 15 people were killed and upward of 50 were wounded by the attack, although it remains unclear whether Mr. Niwani was among the casualties.

The assault occurred in Mr. Niwani’s home in Bhakkar: he was hosting a private reception when a suicide bomber entered the house and blew himself up.

Mr. Niwani is a member of the PML-N party, the primary opposition party of the federal government. Attacks against Pakistani leaders have become increasingly frequent as the Pakistani army continues its offensive against Taliban militia along the country’s border with Afghanistan.
