Getting Around
If you're not taking your own car to your travel destination, you'll need a way to get around once you arrive. The Web can help you sort out your options before you leave for your trip.
Dulcinea's Insight
- There are many car rental agencies. We've chosen just a few sites from the car rental agencies listed on Car Rental Express.
- Many cities post bus or train schedules online. Just type "bus schedule" and your destination city into your favorite search engine to see if schedule information is available.
- If you aren’t sure where to find something (bikes, for example) try Yokel, which helps you locate items nearby.
- Your bank Web site should have an ATM- or branch-locating feature on its site. Even if there aren’t any branches of your bank in the city where you’re traveling, you’ll often find partner banks that will charge low (or no) service fees.
- Similarly, your favorite store and restaurant chains will typically have a “locator” link somewhere on their homepage. Once you enter the zip code where you’ll be staying, most sites will provide not just a list of locations with contact information, but also a map and sometimes hours of operation. Visiting the Web sites of the places most important to you and printing out their relevant locations can make your stay considerably more pleasurable.
