If you want to laugh the night away, a comedy club is always a good bet. While seeing funny movies can provide a similar diversion, the stand-up experience is like none other. Use these Web sites to find shows and venues and to familiarize yourself with comedy club culture if you've never before attended a show.

  • The two biggest comedy club chains are the Improv and The Funny Bone, which encompass more than two dozen cities between them. Each chain's Web site lists schedules for all its locations.
  • When choosing a comedy club to attend, a good general rule is that the oldest clubs are best. Those that have stayed around a while have remained popular for a reason.
