Halloween and WaterFire in Providence

WaterFire in Providence is one of the city's main attractions, a sculpture extending along three downtown rivers. The waterways are illuminated by 100 bonfires, which lend an intoxicating, smoky scent and create mysterious silhouettes and shadows. WaterFire was designed and installed by multimedia artist Barnaby Evans, a graduate of Providence’s Brown University, and draws crowds of locals and visitors eager to stroll along the river while international music plays in the background. WaterFire is held on summer and fall weekends; the last event of the season will be on Halloween, on Oct. 31, 2009.
