The rise of the popularity of the Internet has gone hand in hand with the move from paper to pixels––a shift from physical to virtual––of many pieces of everyday life: correspondence, shopping, learning, and even your taxes can now be done online. At the forefront of this movement have always been the gatekeepers of knowledge and history: museums and libraries. Once places that appeared to hold captive rare books or pieces of fine art in the name of preservation; libraries and museums are now able to make viewing these objects a reality for anyone with a computer and an Internet connection.
