The holidays are upon us. For many of us, the season conjures images of a family cozy around the fire playing board games, colorful presents cascading from the tree, …and fruitcake? Certain elements of the holidays leave us all a little confused. A cake that is spoken in the worst of superlatives is given as a gift. A drink that few would consume unless it was scrambled up in a frying pan is suddenly the toast of the town. And children, who have been listening to the “no stranger rule” all year, are suddenly placed in the lap of an elderly gentleman they have never met before.
