Some people don’t mind waiting two years for the Olympic Games to come around. Fortunately for those who crave more competition, there are annual tournaments of a very different nature. From wife-carrying to toe-wrestling, these tourneys bring together top competitors who are just as passionate about their sport as any Olympic athlete.

In a texting competition, practice makes perfect. You never know when you may need to text the sentence "the razor toothed piranhas of the genera serrasal musand pygocentrus are the most ferocious freshwater fish in the world. in reality they rarely attack a human,” blindfolded.

This little piggy went to the wrestling match … at the annual World Toe Wrestling Championships, which have been taking place in Derbyshire, England since 1977. If you do decide your toes are ready for battle, be sure to watch out for the 2005 husband-and-wife champions, "The Toeminators.”

Ugly is in the eye of the beholder at the World Gurning Championship in Cumbria, U.K. In addition to this anti-beauty pageant, Cumbria offers the thrill of expert greased-pole climbing.

If there's one thing Estonians are great at, it’s wife-carrying. Estonian couples took gold as well as silver at this year’s competition in Finland.
