In any filmic prison cafeteria scene, the stars of the movie are temporarily overshadowed as the tray of brown “slop” steals the spotlight. The traditional perception of prison food leaves nothing to the culinary imagination, but the chefs of confinement are attempting to upgrade. From stick-less corn dogs to crinkle-cut carrots, prison food conventions attempt to showcase the best “grade B” food for under $2.25 a day.
