One man’s fight to the death with an infamous hurricane.
In the summer of 2005, British solo explorer Dom Mee set sail from Canada in what he thought would be a 30-day journey across the North Atlantic Sea. As a series of storms battered his fourteen-foot kite boat Little Murka, Mee’s destination of southeast England became less plausible. The final blow to his doomed journey came when the Murka ran into Hurricane Rita, which capsized his boat and thrust him into the struggle of a lifetime. Watch footage from his harrowing 31-hour ordeal in this video.
